Greetings cool cat's... sorry it's been so long since i've last posted. alot has happened since the captains last post.
Let's go through some of my predictions.
I'd predicted Kelly Pavlik to ko Jermain Taylor and my pick was right on the money in a fight that i think will get the nod for fight of the year.
I'd predicted Joe Calzaghe to defeat Mikkel Kessler in an exciting fight that would go the distance... again right on the money.
I had originally predicted Miguel Cotto to defeat Shane Mosely by a narrow margin. Night of the fight I changed my pick to Mosely by decision. I should've went with my original pick because Cotto got the nod in a very close fight.
All in all it's been a great fall for boxing.... and we still have Hatton Maywether to look foward too... i think Floyd is gonna take this one but it's really hard for me to decide and when it comes time to bet i'm gonna put at least a few bucks on ricky.

CAPTAIN COOLS TOP TEN POUND FOR POUND LIST...
THE COOL CATS ASKED FOR IT THE COOL CATS GET IT... HERE GOES.
#1 FLOYD MAYWETHER JR.: LOVE HIM OR HATE HIM HE'S THE MOST TALENTED FIGHTER IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW UNTIL SOMEONE PROVES OTHERWISE... I DON'T THINK THAT SOMEONE IS GONNA BE RICKY HATTON... BUT WE WILL SEE IN DECEMBER.
#2 MANNY PACQUIO: IN MY OPINION MOST EXCITING FIGHTER IN THE GAME TODAY... FIGHTS THE BEST AND WINS IN EXCITING FASHION.... ALWAYS MOVING FOWARD ALWAYS THROWING HARD PUNCHES... NEXT UP FOR MANNY IS THE RUBBER MATCH BETWEEN HE AND MARCO ANTONIO BARRERA... A GREAT FIGHTER BUT ONE WHO'S BEST DAYS ARE BEHIND HIM... PAC MAN WINS BY KO IN THE MIDDLE ROUNDS.
#3 BERNARD HOPKINS: FRESH OFF HIS WIN OVER WINKY WRIGHT THE OLD MAN LOOKS NEARLY UNBEATABLE AT LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT.... THE ONLY REAL TEST OUT THERE FOR HIM WOULD BE JOE CALZAGE IF JOE IS ABLE TO GET PAST HIS UPCOMING FIGHT WITH MIKKEL KESSLER AND THAT IS A BIG IF.... THE FLIP SIDE OF THE COIN IS THAT BERNARD IS 46 YEARS OLD AND EVENTUALLY HE'S GONNA SHOW HIS AGE IN A FIGHT... BUT UNTIL THAT HAPPENS.... BERNARD HAS A SECURE SPOT ON MY POUND FOR POUND LIST.
#4 JOE CALZAGE: UNDEFEATED IN FORTY PLUS FIGHTS.... DOMINATED JEFF LACY... NOT MUCH TO CRITICIZE THE WILEY WELSHMAN ABOUT EXCEPT THAT WE DON'T SEE HIM FIGHT ENOUGH AND HIS RELUCTANCE TO FIGHT OUTSIDE OF WALES. HIS UPCOMING FIGHT AGAINST UNDEFEATED HARD HITTING MIKKEL KESSLER WILL BE HIS BIGGEST TEST YET AND IF HE'S ABLE TO MAKE KESSLER LOOK LIKE AN AMATUER THE WAY HE DID TO JEFF LACY HE MOVES UP AT LEAST A SPOT ON CAPTAIN COOLS LIST.
#5 JERMAIN TAYLOR: I'VE NEVER BEEN IMPRESSED BY THE GUY BUT HE IS THE UNDEFEATED MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION AND DOES HOLD TWO WINS OVER BERNARD HOPKINS.... ALTHOUGH THEY WERE NOT DECISIVE WINS AND MANY EXPERTS... CAPTAIN COOL INCLUDED... FEEL THAT BERNARD SHOULD'VE GOTTEN THE NOD.... THAT BEING SAID... I DO GIVE CREDIT TO TAYLOR FOR FIGHTING TOP NOTCH COMPETION ON A REGULAR BASIS. NEXT UP FOR HIM IS YOUNGSTOWN OHIO'S KELLY PAVLIK.... IF TAYLOR CAN WIN... AND DO SO IN IMPRESSIVE FASHION RATHER THEN EEKING OUT A SPLIT DECISION VICTORY AS IS OFTEN THE CASE WITH JERMAIN THEN HE MEY ALSO MOVE UP A SPOT OR TWO ON MY LIST.
#6 MIGUEL COTTO: JUST A YEAR AGO COTTO WAS BEING CRITICIZED FOR BEING MOVED ALONG TOO SLOWLY.... BUT NOW AT 30 WINS NO LOSSES... AND COMING OFF IMPRESSIVE WINS OVER PAULIE MALINAGGI AND ZAB JUDAH... THERE IS NO DENYING THAT MIGUEL IS THE REAL DEAL.... THE ONE QUESTION ABOUT HIM HAS BEEN HIS CHIN BUT I THINK THAT THIS IS UNFAIR CONSIDERING THE MAN HAS NEVER BEEN ON THE CANVAS AND ATE SOME OF ZAB JUDAHS BEST SHOTS.... IF HE KEEPS PROGRESSING AT THE RATE HE HAS BEEN HE MAY BE THE MAN WITH THE BEST STYLE AND CHANCE TO HAND PRETTY BOY FLOYD HIS FIRST DEFEAT... BUT FIRST HE MUST GET PAST HIS BIGGEST TEST YET.... SUGAR SHANE MOSELY.... AND THAT IS NO EASY TASK.
#7 SHANE MOSELY: WRITTEN OFF AS OVER THE HILL TWO YEARS AGO SHANE HAS COMPLETELY RESURECTED HIS CAREER AND AGAINST FERNANDO VARGAS SHANE LOOKED AS SHARP AS EVER..... UP NEXT IS MIGUEL COTTO IN MADISON SQUARE GARDEN IN A FIGHT THAT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PREDICT AN OUTCOME... BUT I DO PREDICT THIS.... THE WINNER OF THIS FIGHT WILL FACE FLOYD MAYWETHER PROVIDING FLOYD GETS PAST RICKY HATTON AND DOESN'T PRETEND TO RETIRE AGAIN AFTERWARDS.... MOSELY IS DEFINATLY THE ONLY ACTIVE FIGHTER WITH HANDSPEED EVEN CLOSE TO FLOYDS SO A MOSELY MAYWETHER FIGHT WOULD BE AN INTRIGUING ONE.
#8 ISREAL VASQUEZ: I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH VASQUEZ TKO WIN OVER JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ TWO WEEKS AGO IN A FIGHT THAT IS AN EARLY CONTENDER FOR CAPTAIN COOLS FIGHT OF THE YEAR. WHAT VASQUEZ LACKS IN SKILL HE MAKES UP FOR WITH SHEER DETERMINATION.... ISREAL DIDN'T SEEM TO NOTICE THAT HE HAD A HUGE GASH OVER EACH EYE AND CONTINUED TO MOVE FOWARD AND POUND THE GAME MARGUEZ INTO SUBMISSION. EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE IS THE FACT THAT HE HAD LOST TO MARQUEZ LESS THEN A YEAR EARLIER IN AN EQUALLY EXCITING FIGHT.... THESE TWO HAVE TO FIGHT ONE MORE TIME AND CAPTAIN COOL CAN NOT WAIT.
#9 RICKY HATTON: THE MAN IS UNDEFEATED IN 44 FIGHTS AND IS COMING OFF AN IMPRESSIVE VICTORY OVER JOSE LOUIS CASTILLO.... THE ONE FIGHTER TO COME THE CLOSEST TO DEFEATING FLOYD MAYWETHER JR.... THAT BEING SAID... HE IS MOVING UP TO 147 POUNDS TO FACE MAYWETHER IN DECEMBER AND IN HIS ONLY OTHER FIGHT AT THIS WEIGHT... HE WAS NOT AT HIS BEST.... HIS LEAN ALL OVER YOU SMOTHER YOU STYLE WAS NOT AS EFFECTIVE AGAINST A BIGGER MAN.... COME DEC. 5TH RICKY HATTON MAY NOT ONLY BE KNOCKED OUT.... BUT ALSO KNOCKED OFF OF CAPTAIN COOLS POUND FOR POUND LIST.
#10 WLADAMIR KLITSCKO: WLAD IS THE BEST FIGHTER IN THE WORST BUT MOST GLAMOUROUS DIVISION IN BOXING.... THE HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION IS SO PATHETIC I WAS RELUCTANT TO EVEN PUT A HEAVYWIEIGHT ON MY LIST. IT'S JUST HARD TO JUSTIFY NOT HAVING THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD NOT ON MY POUND FOR POUND LIST.... BUT WHAT WLAD REALLY NEEDS TO DO... FOR THE SAKE OF HIS DIVISION AND HIS LEGACY... IS TO UNIFY ALL THE TITLES.

felix trinidad coming out of retirement to face roy jones jr....
sure captain cool will watch it... but it's really a meaningless fight and it pisses me off because i know it's gonna be a $50 payperview and captain cool being the sucker for boxing that he is will still order it.... what you have here is an over the hill felix trinidad... who got whiped out and forced back into retirement by winky wright two years ago.... coming out of retirement to fight roy jones jr. who hasn't been relivent in years... ever since getting knocked out in two consecutive fights by antonio tarver and glen johnson respectively.... fyi glen knocked him out cold and roy pooped his pants.
as for my prediction... roy's been the more active of the two so he's gonna be the favorite.... but i can't stand the guy... even in his prime i hated him.... and i've always kinda liked tito trinidad.... so i hope felix knocks roy out cold and makes him shit his pants for the third time in his career and retires him for good.

sad sunday for captain cool....
howdy cool cat's... was gonna do a round by round on the bautista vs. ponce de leon fight last night.... unfortunatly for captain cools wallet bautista didn't make it out of the first round.... ponce de leon however did look very impressive... i thought he was all hype after barely beating penalosa in his previous fight but now i am a believer.... penalosa coincidently looked impressive himself in the undercard knocking out gonzalez in the 7th round... until next time... this is captain cool... signing off.

early predictions.....
cotto vs. mosely: i'm really torn on this one.... i'm a fan of both these guys but anyone who knows captain cool knows that he is a sucker for an underdog and i expect that cotto will be the underdog in this fight based on his lack of experience.... this fight will be fought at madison square garden in front of a very puerto rican very pro cotto crowd.... and this can work both ways... sometimes it adds pressure to a fighter to fight in front of their home crowd.... and while cotto is from puerto rico, msg is basically his home arena and having just disposed of zab judah there a few months ago i think he is ready to handle the pressure.... i'm also not too happy with how sugar shane has been dressing lately... his outfits have been "suspect" for lack of a better word.... that being said.... my predicition is cotto by a narrow decision. captain cool will be at this fight if any of his fans wanna come out and meet him.
hatton vs. maywether: again i'm really torn... but for an entirely different reason.... i can't stand either of these guys. hatton is hugely overrated in my opinion and this fight is being fought at 147 lbs. in his only fight at 147, hatton looked horrible and recieved a gift decision against louis collazo. maywether is a super talent.... i really in my heart of hearts expect this to be an easy night for him but again captain cool is gonna go with the underdog just cause i'd love to see floyd get knocked out.... if hatton can apply constant pressure and throw the ridiculous amount of punches which is his style... i think it is a possibility that he could smother and frusturate floyd for 12 rounds and eek out a close and most likely debated split decision. again fans... that captain is gonna try and be at this one in vegas with his wifey his old man and his brother and maybe his close friend big oogie.... i may set up a meet and greet at our suite.
ok cool cat's i'll be back later with my joe calzage mikel kessler prediction.... i'm still on the fence about this one.

man he looks like shit.... what a shame... why can't any of these guys save any of their money and hang it up when they should rather then embarrass themeselves.

Arco Arena, Sacramento, California
Jhonny Gonzalez vs. Gerry Penalosa (WBO Bantamweight Championship)
Daniel Ponce De Leon vs. Rey Bautista (WBO Super Bantamweight Championship)
Miguel Roman vs. TBA
Francisco Rosas vs Bert Batawang (light flyweights)
Z Gorres vs Gerson Guerrero (super flyweights)
Eric Ortiz vs AJ Banal (super flyweights)
should be a decent night of fights.... but surely not as good as last weekends.... marquez vasquez was the best fight in quite some time and a definate early contender for fight of the year.... morales diaz was also very entertaining but i strongly disagree with the dicision.... in my opinion morales clearly won. he's been in so many entertaining fights and it's a shame to see him retire with having his last fight be a loss. i think one look at diaz face tells us who really won that fight.... i wish i coulda found a better photo but you can even see in this one the effect of morales' jab over the course of 12 rounds.... diaz, although more aggressive and more active, looked like a sloppy amature. i hate to say it but the fact that the fight took place in diaz home town of chicago could have made the difference.
RUDDOCK USING HIS FIRST INVENTION... THE SMASH...
well alot of my readers have been writing me and asking to see "the smash" in action... so here it is... from captian cool to you...

REMEMBER DONAVON "RAZOR" RUDDOCK?
he invented his own signature punch... "THE SMASH".... it was a hybrid cross breeding of a hook and an uppercut... "THE SMASH" knocked mike dokes out for 15 mins once... it was really scary but mike is ok.... anyway... he's back to inventing.....
